FAQs

Here are a few FAQs about the Camp....

  1. Why is OWLS the name of the camp? OWLS is an acronym, it stands for Outstanding Women Leading & Serving. This camp was started around 8 years ago at the Lewisville church to be a fun, safe and Christian experience where teenage girls study the Bible together, learn from Godly women, serve others through service projects, and be an overall wonderful asset to their home congregations.

  2. Who can come to the camp? This camp is designed for young ladies who will be going into the 9th grade the next school year through young ladies who have just graduated High School (12th).

  3. What fees are involved? We do have a camper fee of $120. This will cover 3 full meals a day plus snacks, all the fun activities we do in the evenings, and all service projects we participate in.

  4. Where is the camp located? The camp is located at the Lewisville Church of Christ, 901 College Parkway, Lewisville, TX 75077.

  5. Do you sleep in the church building? Yes we do! It's not as bad as it sounds! In fact, we would compare it to a dorm setting. All the girls and counselors will have their own twin size air mattress (provided by the church). We all sleep with privacy and securely in the fellowship hall together. With the pandemic still going on, we will make sure everyone is socially distanced as much as possible. We usually have "lights out" around 11ish most nights and counselors do security checks throughout the night to ensure everyone's safety.

  6. Do you have showers? Yes, absolutely! The Lewisville church has installed 8 showers in one of the restrooms to accommodate for the camps they have going on throughout the year.

  7. Is it all hard work or do we have fun too? We wouldn't be able to call it a camp if we didn't have fun activities thrown in! In years past we've done lots of fun stuff, from swimming to bowling, to movie night and lots of other stuff. We have a few tricks up our sleeve this year, stay tuned!

  8. What about service, you've mentioned it a couple of times, what does that look like? We typically have 2-3 service projects with one being larger. In the past we've done a mother's day out, mother's brunch, a ladies tea. The girls are completely involved in every aspect of the project. They plan, prep, shop, and serve. It's really fun to see, they always enjoy our service projects.
